Destiny's Thoughts/Comments
When I was reading this chapter, I was surprised that Victor trusted the monster enough to sit down and talk to him. I would have been too scared that the monster would have killed me. I felt kind of bad for the monster though because he was so tired of people running in fear of him that he decided to avoid all human contact completely. |
As Victor and the monster were sitting around the fire, the monster explains to Victor the events that happened after Victor created him. He tells him about after Victor left; he went from Victor's apartment into the wilderness and how he gradually adapted. He told Victor about the first time that he started a fire, and enjoyed it until he became distressed by it because it burned him. He realized that the fire provided heat and could cook food. The monster stumbled upon a hut while searching for food, and went inside. He didn't realize that there was an old man already inside the hut, until he heard the man shriek and run away in fear. People run and scream in fear when they see the monster. He soon decides that he wants to avoid humans altogether. He finds a small cottage and sees three people inside: an old man, a son, and a daughter.
