Letter three is again written from the view of Robert Walton, and he explains to his sister that he has left Archangel and has embarked on his voyage. He says that he may not see England again for many years, but does plan to return gloriously. His crew is still uplifted and has really focused in on the purpose of the voyage. Although he approaches the pole, he says that it is still rather warm, with a nice breeze coming from the south. Nothing of importance has occurred during the trip, so he wraps up his short letter by telling her to be safe, and that he plans to stay safe.
